Cisco has introduced the Meraki India Region, a cloud service specifically designed for the country to address data privacy and localization needs. Hosted by a cloud service provider authorized by the Indian government, the platform aims to help businesses in India transition towards a cloud-first approach while meeting local data storage requirements.

Meraki, a global platform, offers a range of networking solutions such as wired, wireless, SD-WAN, secure networking, and IoT capabilities. With over 810,000 customers worldwide, it provides centralized visibility and control, unified network management, and cost savings. Cisco’s President for India and SAARC, Daisy Chittilapilly, emphasized the importance of a comprehensive network platform for enterprises in today’s cloud-first environment.

The launch of the Meraki India Region aligns with the findings of Cisco’s 2024 Data Privacy Benchmark study, which highlights the preference of Indian organizations to store data within their own country or region for enhanced security. The study also indicates that global providers are trusted more than local providers in safeguarding data. Lawrence Huang, Cisco’s senior vice president and general manager of Networking-Meraki, noted that the Meraki India Region offers advanced security features like penetration testing and daily vulnerability scans to support digital transformation efforts in the country.

Overall, Cisco’s Meraki India Region aims to meet the growing demand for cloud services while ensuring data privacy and security for businesses in India. By providing a secure and localized cloud platform, Cisco seeks to enable enterprises to drive operational efficiency and success in an interconnected world.
