Cisco Collaborating with Historically Black Colleges and Universities | CSCO Stock Update

Cisco has partnered with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to address the digital divide and support the Black community by donating $150 million for STEM education and technology modernization over five years. This initiative includes donating $66 million in services and software, completing 46 NIST assessments, and establishing 30 technology facilities at HBCUs. Notable achievements include the launch of the Cisco Cyber Academy at the Technical Institute of Denmark, providing cybersecurity training and certifications to 59 students, including veterans, women, and underserved groups. Cisco’s goal is to prepare Black leaders for the AI era and promote inclusivity within the education sector. The partnership aims to co-innovate with HBCUs to create lasting change in four critical areas, including supporting STEM students, building technological excellence, promoting success before and after graduation, and fostering information exchange and participation. By approaching challenges from an ecosystem perspective, Cisco has been able to provide vital support to HBCUs, evaluate IT infrastructure, recommend upgrades, and donate services and equipment to enhance cybersecurity technology. This collaborative effort has resulted in significant impact, such as the success story at Denmark Technical College, where Cisco’s support has led to improved IT infrastructure, cybersecurity training programs, and job opportunities for students in the cybersecurity field. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected due to advancements in AI, cybersecurity has become essential for a secure future. Cisco’s partnership with HBCUs aims to address the critical shortage of cybersecurity specialists and prepare students for the evolving workforce. By investing in education and technology, Cisco hopes to create a more inclusive future for all individuals, emphasizing that inclusion is a fundamental human right. Cisco’s commitment to HBCUs began in 2020 with a $150 million donation over five years, impacting STEM education programs and technological modernization. Through collaborations and initiatives, Cisco and HBCUs have made significant progress in bridging the digital divide and empowering Black leaders for the future.
