At Cisco Live in Las Vegas, Cisco highlighted the advantages of incorporating technology from Splunk, an AI specialist acquired earlier this year for $28 billion, into its products for digital enterprise security and performance analysis. The company unveiled updates to the Cisco AppDynamics analytics platform prior to the launch of a Unified Observability Experience (UOE) platform, which merges legacy Splunk technology with Cisco’s own technology.

The integration of the newly acquired technology is expected to enhance full-stack observability for businesses, offering improved visibility into on-premises physical infrastructure as well as hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The forthcoming UOE product will leverage real-time analytics to enable quicker and more accurate detection of issues, along with enhanced investigation and response capabilities.

During a presentation on the launch, Cisco’s senior vice president and general manager, Tom Gillis, highlighted that the combination of Cisco and Splunk technologies will enable the identification of critical data that is currently invisible to security analytics but crucial for detecting attack movement. Furthermore, Tom Casey, Splunk’s senior vice president and general manager, expressed optimism about the progress made since the acquisition, emphasizing the potential of the combined assets for security and performance observability.
