Change an EC2 instance type on AWS Cloud
The easiest way in EC2 to adapt to evolving workload needs is to change the instance type.
Workload requirements inevitably change over time. For example, a workload may have an increased demand that leads to a need for additional hardware. Similarly, the utilization of the workloads can decrease, which is one way of reducing costs by reclaiming some of the resources. The easiest way in EC2 to adapt to evolving workload needs is to change the instance type. In this blog post I’ll show you how to do it.
Before I start there are two things that you need to know. First, I recommend backing up your EC2 instances before attempting to change the instance type. Changing the instance type should be a non-destructive process, but it’s always a good idea to take a backup every time you make a major change.
