CES 2021 will be a virtual event this year as the latest technologies vie for attention as they tackle the topic Coronavirus Pandemic around the world.

“All kinds of masks, voice assistants mature, 5G will provide everything with electricity, more 8K televisions, [and] Robots … for more practical purposes, “Greg Kahn, CEO of GK Digital Ventures and Internet of Things Consortium, told Fox News.

Fox News has compiled a list of a few technologies that could practically be in the foreground starting January 11th.

8K AND MINI LED TVs

At around 33 million pixels – four times as many as 4K mainstream TVs – expensive 8K TVs are still out of reach for most consumers. This fact won’t stop manufacturers like Samsung and LG from pushing this forward at CES.

Mini-LED display technology will also be an issue, offering better brightness, color and contrast compared to current LCD televisions. LG will Show your own spin on mini LED with something called QNED.

5G FOR REAL

The high-speed mobile network caused a sensation at CES in 2020, but was not widespread at the time. Expect more this year as the latest phones like the new iPhone 12 now come with 5G.

The promise of 5G is future devices such as smart glasses with augmented reality. Large carriers also offer 5G internet for the home.

Masks are a fashion trend today, but with a very practical purpose amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

High-tech masks with proprietary antibacterial, antiviral, filtration and breathability technologies are expected to be showcased at CES, as are intelligent air purifiers and UV disinfection lights Media reports.

LG announced its PuriCare portable air purifier this summer. It is equipped with HEPA filters and contains a breathing sensor that detects the cycle and volume of the user’s breathing to adjust the speed of the built-in fans.

INTERNET OF THINGS AND HEALTH MONITORING

OTHER TECHNOLOGY, INCLUDING ROBOTS AND VOICE CAPABLE DEVICES

Another technology to look out for is increasingly practical robots. And smarter voice assistants that are being offered for more products like Amazon Echo Loop Ring and Amazon Frames, as well as voice-operated door locks.

Electric cars and self-driving technologies have also been leaders at CES in recent years. This year, GM is expected to have a lot to say about its future electric vehicles. CEO Mary Barra the Keynote speaker on January 12th.
