CEOs’ salaries continue to increase, leaving workers behind



CEOs of S&P 500 companies earned nearly 200 times the salary of the average worker in 2023, marking a 12.6% increase from the previous year. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan topped the list with a compensation of $161.8 million, followed by Fair Isaac Corporation CEO William Lansing and Apple’s Tim Cook. The gap between CEO and worker pay has been a point of contention, with some criticizing the inequality it represents. However, after a period of decline, CEO salaries saw an uptick in 2023. Stock awards made up a significant portion of CEOs’ compensation last year, according to the report.
