ByteDance has denied reports of collaborating with Broadcom of the United States to develop advanced AI processors. The reported processor is said to be a 5nm ASIC designed for specific application scenarios, offering high performance and power efficiency. However, ByteDance stated that the information is inaccurate.
Despite this, ByteDance has been investing in the chip space, with plans to comply with new US export control regulations by outsourcing manufacturing work to TSMC. The chip design is said to be progressing smoothly but has not yet entered production. Previously, ByteDance had purchased Broadcom’s 5nm Tomahawk chip and Bailly switch for AI computing clusters.
