Cyberattacks were widespread by 2020, and as more companies consider moving remotely permanently in 2021, security experts said cyber criminals will seek less secure systems outside of corporate networks.
Kaspersky saw brute force attacks on remote desktop protocols increase by 242% in 2020 compared to the previous year. Likewise, a Cisco survey shows that 73% of Indian companies have seen cyber threats or warnings increase by 25% or more since the pandemic began.
However, security experts said the move to remote working and the increase in cyberattack incidents had also raised awareness of cybersecurity. According to a Cisco poll in October, cybersecurity has been rated a top priority by 84% of Indian companies since the outbreak.
