Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Stock Exchange”) started today with a dematerialization proof-of-concept to dematerialize securities certificates using Daml smart contracts from Digital Asset and a highly scalable distributed ledger platform from VMware to facilitate.

The project aims to test the efficiency and operability of blockchain-based technologies in the issuance of dematerialized securities certificates, with an initial focus on structured warrants.

Bursa Malaysia estimates that this initiative could make business easier by reducing the reliance on manual labor to create, manage and withdraw certificates with structured warrants.
