Bunnings’ advert, which aired just before Christmas, divided viewers after the retailer used AI to bring the idea to life. Hardware store advertisements typically feature real store employees promoting some of the offerings offered at the hardware store.
But this festive offering took place in Bunnings’ fake North Pole store and featured “workers” like Mrs. Claus. A company spokesman said this Yahoo Lifestyle that it should be something “fun” for the festive season.
“This Christmas we experimented with AI to interpret our message of thanks to suppliers and customers from the imaginary North Pole Bunnings Warehouse in a fun and festive way,” they said.
“Our advertising continues to spotlight our real team, who are central to who we are and how we appear to our customers. In 2025 alone, more than 400 of our team members appeared in our campaigns, and we have no plans to change that.”
