Broadcom’s VMware deal is attracting more regulatory attention


  • The UK competition authority said it was checking whether US chipmakers Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ: AVGO) Acquisition of Cloud Computing Company Valued at $61 Billion VMware Inc (NYSE: VMW) could have anti-competitive effects.

  • The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) solicited comments from interested parties through Dec. 6 to help it formally assess whether to open an investigation into the Broadcom-VMware deal.

  • The Broadcom-VMware deal marks Broadcom’s attempt to expand its business into enterprise software.
