Broadcom sees growing demand for AI
Broadcom (AVGO) reported a strong fiscal first quarter with record revenue of $19.31 billion, up 29% year-over-year, and adjusted earnings per share of $2.05, slightly above analysts’ expectations. Semiconductor sales rose 52% to $12.52 billion, with artificial intelligence (AI)-focused sales reaching $8.4 billion, up 106% year over year. CEO Hock Tan highlighted increasing demand for chips and forecast AI sales of $10.7 billion for the second quarter.
Has Nvidia given up on China?
The chip giant (NVDA) has stopped producing H200 chips for China Financial Times reported that capacity at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSM) was shifting to the newer Vera Rubin processors. The move reflects expectations that regulatory obstacles in the U.S. and China will continue to restrict sales in China. Vera Rubin focuses on advanced AI workloads and is in high demand at US technology companies such as Alphabet’s OpenAI and Google (gogetL).
