Broadcom reveals new advancements for VMware Cloud Foundation

Broadcom Inc. announced the latest updates to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), their private cloud platform. The new features aim to support customers’ digital innovation by improving infrastructure modernization, developer productivity, and cyber resilience and security while keeping the total cost of ownership low. Paul Turner, Vice President of Products at VMware Cloud Foundation Division, mentioned that VCF is the first private cloud platform to combine public and private clouds seamlessly, catering to customer needs based on feedback. The latest release includes a new VCF import feature to speed up adoption and reduce time to value, as well as new features to help IT meet developer needs without increasing business risk. VCF is designed to modernize infrastructure, accelerate innovation, and provide integrated enterprise-class compute, networking, storage, management, and security in any environment. It includes native Kubernetes support for both VM and container workloads and advanced AI/ML capabilities. The latest advancements in VCF include the ability to import existing vSphere and vSAN environments, support for vSAN Max and vSAN ESA stretched clusters, and VCF Edge for edge use cases. For developers, VCF offers simplified application deployment, quick-start templates, enhanced performance insights, and Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG) as an independent service. Additionally, VCF networking and VMware Avi Load Balancer provide support for developers in building efficient CI/CD pipelines. Safety and resilience features of VCF and related add-ons ensure private cloud integrity, higher availability, optimized network performance, malware prevention, and robust data protection. These include ESXi Live Patching, Flexible VCF Component Upgrade, DPU support, vSAN Data Protection, VMware vDefend Lateral Security, and VMware Avi integration. The latest innovations from Broadcom are aimed at helping organizations accelerate adoption of private clouds in response to evolving needs around GenAI and data security. VMware vSphere Foundation, the next evolution of VMware vSphere solution, supports modern IT needs by increasing operational efficiency, security, and workload performance to accelerate innovation.
