Broadcom Inc. has announced the latest updates to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), enhancing digital innovation by modernizing infrastructure, improving developer productivity, and enhancing cyber resilience and security at a low cost. The new VCF import feature accelerates adoption and integrates existing vSphere and vSAN environments. VCF supports enterprise-scale AI/ML workloads and provides advanced observability and insights for performance optimization. License portability allows for mobility between on-premises and supported endpoints. The new VCF Edge offers optimized configuration for edge use cases.

For developers, VCF simplifies application deployment with quick-start templates and enhances performance insights. Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG) is offered as an independent service with asynchronous updates for faster access to the latest Kubernetes versions. VCF networking provides improved collaboration and supports more efficient CI/CD pipelines. VMware Avi Load Balancer with VCF enables self-service load balancing for DevOps and AppOps teams.

Safety and resilience features include VMware Live Recovery and VMware vDefend Lateral Security for private cloud integrity and robust protection against threats. ESXi Live Patching allows for critical patches without downtime, while Flexible VCF Component Upgrade streamlines the patch management process. Dual DPU support and vSAN Data Protection enhance system reliability and protection against failures and ransomware attacks.

VMware vDefend Lateral Security improves scalability and integration for advanced ransomware prevention, threat triage, and Avi software lifecycle management. The evolving needs of GenAI and data security are driving the demand for private clouds. VMware Cloud Foundation continues to evolve as a private cloud platform to meet diverse organization needs.

With VMware vSphere Foundation, operational efficiency, security, and workload performance are optimized to support AI/ML applications, developer requirements, and modern threats. Updates include ESXi Live Patching, self-service infrastructure access, and simplified management of components. Availability of VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2 and VMware vSphere Foundation 5.2 is expected in the third quarter of fiscal 2024.
