The UK competition regulator is investigating Hewlett Packard Company’s proposed $14 billion acquisition of juniper nets. The Competition and Markets Authority wants to determine if the merger could harm competition. HPE, known for data center hardware and software, agreed to pay Juniper $40 per share in January. The deal is considered a significant turning point in the industry, especially in the networking market. HPE aims to enhance its artificial intelligence offerings with Juniper’s help. The two companies have not yet responded to the investigation. Interested parties have until July 3 to provide comments. The regulator will decide whether to move forward with a Phase 2 investigation by August 14.
