BNamericas – Dell, Nutanix ramp up Brazil output amid riv…

Dell and Nutanix announced the localization of the production of equipment aimed at cloud, AI inference and hyperconvergence, with the start of local manufacturing of the Dell XC line at Dell’s plant in Hortolândia, São Paulo.

The Dell XC solution is a hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) platform that combines Dell PowerEdge servers with Nutanix systems, integrating computing, storage, and virtualization into a single system to, according to the companies, simplify IT management and accelerate application deployment.

The companies have maintained a partnership since 2014 for HCI and hybrid cloud solutions, combining Dell hardware and Nutanix software.

“This represents job creation, opportunities and knowledge, as well as greater competitiveness, faster delivery, local technical support and better purchasing conditions for customers”, Joel Brawerman, sales director of Dell Technologies’ Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) for Latin America, told reporters.

According to Dell, about 95% of the portfolio sold in the country is produced at the Hortolândia factory, the group’s only plant in the world dedicated exclusively to the local market. 

The decision to nationalize the XC line was motivated by the increase in market demand, which had been met through imports, and by growth prospects, in addition to economic and logistical factors that made domestic production more advantageous.
