In the middle of the fourth quarter of Saturday’s Texas Tech vs Iowa State game, officials stopped playing. At first, the interruption looked like it might be a retest for the referee. However, after a few moments of interruption, one of the other officers pointed to the Texas Tech student division in the southeast corner of the Jones AT&T Stadium.

The security forces then entered sections 22 and 23 of the stadium when an announcement was made over the public address system for the students in these sections. The students in both Sections 22 and 23 had apparently shouted insulting language at the officers and threw objects on the field.

As you can see in the video below, security quickly deleted sections 22 and 23.

The officials’ gimmicks didn’t matter at the end of the day as Texas Tech held off Iowa State 41-38 and, when the time ran out, won a 62-yard field goal from Jonathan Garibay.
