Ben Affleck is selling his AI post-production startup to Netflix

Ben Affleck has unexpectedly sold his artificial intelligence company to Netflix, saying he was driven to embrace a technology that initially “genuinely scared” him.

Netflix has acquired post-production startup InterPositive from the Oscar-winning actor, director, producer and screenwriter for an undisclosed sum.

Affleck had kept InterPositive under the radar and previously downplayed the AI’s creative abilities. This year, he told podcaster Joe Rogan that he didn’t think the technology was capable of “writing anything meaningful” or making films “out of stuff.”

In a video announcing the deal, the “Good Will Hunting” and “Gone Girl” actor said he went from being afraid of the potential impact of AI when he first encountered the technology to “really meaningful innovation.”

Affleck said InterPositive doesn’t provide video generation tools like Google’s Veo3 or OpenAI’s Sora – it’s “not about text prompts or…”
