At the Board of Peace signing ceremony in Davos, Donald Trump reiterated his call for an end to eight wars.
The US President also made several claims about his economic record, including:
“The U.S. economy is booming with virtually no inflation. It has been at 1.2% for the past three months, and we have inherited the worst inflation in our country’s history.”
This is incorrect as official inflation figures show prices rose 2.7% in the 12 months to December 2025. , external
Inflation has fallen from 3% in January last year but is still above the 2% target set by the Federal Reserve.
Furthermore, Trump did not inherit the “worst” inflation ever, which was 23.7% in 1920.
“We now have economic growth of 5.4%”
Latest official data shows that US GDP grew at an annual rate of 4.3%, external in the three months up to September.
