Significant security improvements are being made in a school district in mid-Michigan. Bay Arenac Intermediate Schools today signed a contract for new security measures, including barricade systems in the classrooms and a high-tech notification system.
The district decided it was time after realizing that more could be done to protect its students and staff
“As we worked this through with our employees, we found that many had questions about what our plan should be and what we should do differently,” said Brian McBride, assistant director of the Careers Center.
What they are doing differently is working with law enforcement and security agencies as well as Lockout USA to install ballistic shields at entry points and a district-wide barricade system.
