The news comes from today’s EA stream, The Future of FPS, which is part of the company’s EA Play Spotlight series. In a discussion with a small group of developers about the game, it was revealed that Ripple Effect Studios’ game mode would be a return to the classic Battlefield Cards that are recreated to be playable in Battlefield 2042. How extensive the remakes will be has not been stated, but it will be interesting to see how the maps are updated to network with Battlefield 2042‘s dystopian futuristic backdrop.
The details of what the mode will look like were not mentioned in the interview, nor was there any mention of which cards fans can expect in the mode. However, this is well known Battlefield Leaker Tom Henderson tweeted shortly after the announcement to reveal a list of cards he heard would be in the mode. The list includes maps such as Metro, Locker, Wake Island, Siege of Shanghai, Arica Harbor, and Caspian Border. The list isn’t all that surprising, but it’ll be interesting to see how more claustrophobic cards like Locker adapt Battlefield 2042‘s increased number of players.
The announcement of the return of the fans’ favorite cards is no doubt exciting for gamers looking forward to getting their hands on them Battlefield 2042. Hopefully, with EA Play slated for later this month, players will get more information on what to expect Battlefield 2042 at the event alongside EA’s other announcements.
