Badge teams up with Cisco Duo to create innovative roaming multifactor authentication technology

Authentication solutions company Insignia Inc. has announced a new partnership with Cisco Duo to introduce a hardware-agnostic roaming multi-factor authentication solution. This collaboration aims to address issues with traditional hardware-based multifactor authentication, which can create friction, disrupt operations, and lead to security breaches. Cisco’s Duo Authenticator product often requires users to have a second device, which may not always be available or allowed in certain environments.

The partnership allows Badge to enhance Cisco Duo’s identity and authentication capabilities, reducing friction and enabling seamless, password-less enrollment using verifiable credentials. Badge’s technology simplifies identity verification and authentication processes, allowing users to authenticate access credentials on any device, anywhere, at any time.

Co-founder Dr. Tina Srivastava highlighted the privacy-preserving authentication provided by Badge, enabling Cisco Duo users to access devices and applications without storing user secrets or private keys. This eliminates costs associated with traditional multifactor authentication methods and enhances security by eliminating reliance on physical devices and insecure account recovery processes.

Duo can now serve as a certified key provider through the partnership, utilizing Badge to extend its passwordless capabilities without compromising user trust in key trees or login credentials. Badge’s integration with Duo enables users to register once and access passcodes across various ecosystems, including Apple Inc., Microsoft Corp., and Google LLC.

Badge’s partnership with Cisco Duo is a strategic addition to its existing network of partners, which includes Okta Inc., Auth0 Inc., Radiant Logic Inc., and Ping Identity Holding Corp. Cisco Duo, which became part of Cisco Systems Inc. following a $2.35 billion acquisition, now benefits from Badge’s innovative authentication solutions.

Insignia Inc., the parent company of Badge, has received financing from Wing Venture Capital LLC. The partnership with Cisco Duo signifies a significant step forward in providing secure, efficient, and user-friendly authentication solutions in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
