The new Bastion Developer SKU provides a secure solution for connecting to virtual machines in Azure without exposing public IP addresses. This option allows users to establish a secure, one-click connection to a single virtual machine at a time. Unlike other Bastion SKUs, Bastion Developer utilizes a shared pool of resources managed by Microsoft internally, rather than deploying dedicated resources in the customer’s VNET. Users can access their VMs directly through the connection experience in the VM blade in the portal, with support for RDP/SSH in the portal and SSH-only for CLI sessions. Bastion Developer is ideal for development/test users seeking secure connections to VMs without the need for additional features, configuration, or scaling.
Currently, Bastion Developer is limited to specific regions, including EUAP US Central, EUAP US East 2, West Central US, North Central US, West US, and Northern Europe.
