Amazon Web Services Inc. today announced the general availability of Amazon HealthLake, a cloud service that enables healthcare organizations to bring medical information from different systems together in one place and use it to improve patient care.

Medical data is often spread over several applications. In a hospital, clinical notes, lab reports, and insurance claims can be stored in various databases, which can make timely access to the information difficult for healthcare professionals. AWS says using HealthLake to centralize such disparate sets of data into a single data repository makes information access easier.
