Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP now allows users to read data from a volume while it is being restored from a backup, improving recovery time objectives by up to 17x for read-only workloads such as media streaming and compliance verification. This new feature enables users to explore their backup and recover critical data within minutes of initiating a restore, reducing downtime in the event of accidental data modification or deletion. Once the data has been fully restored, the volume automatically becomes writable. This feature is available on all new and existing FSx for ONTAP second generation file systems in AWS Regions where FSx second generation file systems are available.
