Australia is struggling to catch up as the government rolls out a national AI plan

Sue Keay, Director of UNSW’s AI Institute, discusses the Australian Government’s rollout of a national AI plan. “It’s like we’ve been poking around for the last seven years putting this AI plan together and when we got to the checkout we realized we only have enough money for an AI security institute,” Ms Keay told Sky News Australia. “All of these things are a good start, but most of the rest of the world was at this starting point at least seven years ago, so we still have a lot of catching up to do.”
