ArcGIS Pro users expect a responsive experience whether working from a physical workstation or a virtual desktop. Map navigation, editing, visualization, geoprocessing, and analysis all benefit from a well-designed virtual infrastructure that balances compute resources, storage performance, and network connectivity.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) provides GPU-enabled Compute Shapes—Oracle’s predefined virtual machine configurations that combine CPU, memory, storage, and optional GPU resources into a single deployment profile. Similar to selecting a Virtual Machines (VM) size in Microsoft Azure, choosing the appropriate Compute Shape is one of the most important design decisions when deploying ArcGIS Pro on OCI. Like any virtualization platform, however, overall performance depends on more than selecting a GPU-enabled Compute Shape. Storage performance, network latency, data locality, and choosing the appropriate Compute Shape all contribute to the end-user experience.
