Apps and websites not working due to Google One and Pixel VPN

Users of the Pixel 7-8a have reported issues with certain large websites not loading when using Google VPN or the soon-to-be-outdated Google One VPN. The problem seems to affect all platforms, including Android, iOS, Mac, and PC. Some websites such as Amazon were not loading, while others like Wikipedia and Google were working fine. Disabling Google’s VPN immediately resolved the issue.

While this problem doesn’t appear to be widespread, it has caused some inconvenience for users. Other devices connected to Google’s VPNs seemed to be unaffected during testing. Disabling the VPN or excluding critical apps could be a temporary solution for those experiencing difficulties. After turning off the VPN and resetting the connection, users have been able to access websites as normal, although some are still facing persistent issues.

Despite the June 20 deprecation date, the Google One VPN continues to function. Users are advised to disable the VPN if they encounter loading issues on specific websites. By doing so, users can regain access to all websites and apps. This issue highlights the importance of VPN functionality and its impact on browsing and app usage.
