Perhaps the most exciting new iOS 16 feature discussed at WWDC last week was the new customizable iPhone lock screen. Unusually for Apple, the new lock screen has the opposite characteristics of a walled garden, meaning iPhone users can set up the lock screen the way they want.
“Typography is such a big passion of ours, the design teams, and we have a number of other design fonts from Apple, even some non-Latin fonts. Therefore, for the first time, we let users choose their favorite font.”
Personally, this writer finds that there is usually something new to be found in the manufacturer’s new product videos that really make users want the new phone. With the iPhone 11 Pro Max, it was the battery life and the durability of the handset. With the Pixel 6 Pro, it was the AI and machine learning features like Magic Eraser and Live Translate that won me over on the device. And now the customizable iPhone lock screen and the ability to edit iMessages (and countless others, we’re sure) have me drooling and considering a change.
