Apple retains top spot as AMD surpasses Intel, Samsung, and Xbox in brand value

In recent years, Nvidia has risen to become one of the most valuable global brands, thanks to the growth of artificial intelligence. The company’s brand value has surged, surpassing other major players like Intel, Disney, Samsung, and Xbox. Kantar BrandZ’s report for 2024 reveals that the total value of the top 100 brands has increased by 20% year-on-year, with a significant portion attributed to technology companies contributing to the overall growth.

Kantar BrandZ calculates brand value by multiplying financial value with brand contribution, which is defined by the brand’s ability to increase purchase volume and charge a premium. The report highlights the dominance of leading tech companies in the list of top 100 brands, with a collective contribution of $1.2 trillion to the total annual growth of $1.4 trillion.

Apple has been named the world’s most valuable brand in 2024, with a value of $1.015 trillion, marking the third consecutive year that the tech giant has claimed the top spot. Apple’s brand value saw a 15% increase, making it the first brand in history to surpass a total brand valuation of $1 trillion.

Nvidia, ranked sixth on the list, experienced the largest year-over-year increase in brand value, jumping 178% to reach $201.8 billion. Other tech giants that made significant gains included Instagram, Facebook, and Google Cloud, trailing behind Nvidia in the rankings. AMD also saw a boost in brand value, climbing 53% to $51.86 billion and surpassing competitors like Intel, Samsung, and Xbox in the ranking.

The report also highlights the distribution of brand value across different sectors, with 23% of the total coming from enterprise technology and services platforms, valued at $2.336 trillion and up 45% year-over-year. The media and entertainment category followed closely, experiencing a 34% increase to reach $1.34 trillion.

Overall, the total value of all brands in 2024 reached $8.3 trillion, the second-highest since the inception of the report in 2006, only trailing behind the $8.7 trillion recorded in 2022. The technological revolution and the rise of artificial intelligence continue to reshape the landscape of global brands, propelling companies like Nvidia and Apple to the forefront of innovation and value.
