Apple has released a security patch for iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches to fix an issue that is actively being attacked by hackers.
The security patch is available with updates for iOS 14.4.2 and iPadOS 14.4.2, which cover older devices, as well as with the update watchOS 7.3.3 for Apple Watches.
The vulnerability was identified in Apple’s WebKit, the browser engine that Safari browser users use on all Apple devices.
Apple described the impact of the vulnerability on its support page as follows: “The processing of maliciously crafted web content can lead to universal cross-site scripting.”
“Apple has known that this issue may have been actively exploited,” it said.
The problem was reported by Clement Lecigne of the Google Threat Analysis Group and Billy Leonard of the Google Threat Analysis Group. It was approached through “improved object life management”.
