On May 5th – World Password Day – we may be one step closer to making passwords a thing of the past.

In a joint effort, tech giants Apple, Google and Microsoft announced Thursday morning that they have committed to building support for passwordless sign-in across every mobile, desktop and browser platform they control over the coming year. This effectively means that in the not too distant future, passwordless authentication will be available on all major device platforms: Android and iOS mobile operating systems; Chrome, Edge and Safari browsers; and the Windows and macOS desktop environments.
