At today’s EA Play Live event, EA and Respawn revealed the trailer for Apex legends Season 10, known as Emergence. The two companies gave new information about the playable character seer, a scout hero who uses small drones and a heartbeat sensor to detect enemy movements in a given area.
In addition to Seer, Apex Game Director Chad Grenier spoke about the next year of the Apex Legends Global Series and announced that Xbox and PlayStation players will be invited to compete alongside PC players.
Grenier describes Seer as a tracker, similar to the existing character Bloodhound, but with a different style of play. While Bloodhound is quite aggressive, Seer is designed to be played more secretly. Its passive ability is a heartbeat sensor that can be used while aiming down. The sensor gives the players clues about the locations of the enemies. His tactics send out a multitude of small drones that detect and chase enemies as they move.
Its ultimate creates an orb around an area of the battlefield that reveals and tracks any enemies that move within it. To stay hidden in the area, enemies will need to move more slowly. All of these skills can be seen in Emergence’s new theatrical trailer, which premiered on the show. A full gameplay reveal trailer is out on Monday July 26th.
Grenier also spoke about the upcoming additions Arenas. The team wants to expand Apex legends beyond battle royale gameplay and plans to do so with the new Ranked Arena mode. Beyond ranked mode, Grenier revealed that new Arenas maps are in the works and more new aspects have yet to be revealed.
The Apex Legends Global Series returns in September with a $ 5 million prize pool and a new competitive ecosystem. Xbox and PlayStation players can compete with and against professional and amateur PC players.
Grenier didn’t mention any of the upcoming changes to the World’s Edge map, nor did he mention anything about the new Rampage weapon, both of which were announced earlier this week. However, the cinematic trailer showed the rampage apparently using grenades as ammunition. More will be explained in the Gameplay Reveal and when the season opens on August 3rd.
