San Francisco, United States: A California judge has set the stage for a potential victory for Anthropic in its push to regulate artificial intelligence weapons, a blow to US President Donald Trump’s administration that brings the company one step closer to avoiding losing billions in government contracts.
The Trump administration had labeled Anthropic a “supply chain risk” because of its stance on increased regulation, a move that would bar the company from certain military contracts.

The U.S. Defense Department may be illegally trying to punish Anthropic for trying to limit the use of its artificial intelligence (AI) models for weapons without human oversight or for mass surveillance, a district judge said.
