FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Andre Cisco’s homecoming story didn’t have a happy ending.
The safety from Valley Stream played only eight games for the Jets after signing a one-year contract with the team he rooted for growing up. Cisco will hit free agency again.
“It is very upsetting,” Cisco said. “You always think big coming into every year. You set the bar high. We just didn’t hit the bar.”
Cisco said it “was refreshing” to be back in the area. He hoped to make an impact with the Jets, but he tore his pec in Week 8 in Cincinnati and underwent season-ending surgery. Cisco never missed more than two games in his four previous NFL seasons with the Jaguars.
“I feel like I matured a lot during these last eight, nine weeks to myself, just being on the sideline and just taking some time,” said Cisco, who attended St. Anthony’s High School for two years before transferring to IMG Academy in Florida. “I’ve never been on IR, so that was the most time I’ve missed.
