Nutanix has released its sixth annual Enterprise Cloud Index (ECI) survey, which focuses on global cloud adoption trends. The 2024 report shows that a majority of respondents are adopting a ‘cloud smart’ approach by placing applications and workloads in datacenters, multiple clouds, and the network edge. Hybrid multi-cloud models are on the rise, along with the use of multiple public clouds.
Drivers for deployment platform choices include performance, cost management, data sovereignty, ransomware protection, and flexibility. Other factors like support for data services and application migration were also important considerations for respondents.
The survey highlighted a growing interest in IT’s role in sustainability, with many organizations implementing measures to enhance sustainability and modernize IT infrastructure. Ransomware remains a key concern, with many respondents listing it as a top C-level concern.
UK organizations are forecasted to surpass the global average in the use of multiple public clouds over the next one to three years. IT decision makers prioritize capacity and cost concerns when it comes to application migration. Globally, a large percentage of organizations have moved or migrated applications in the last 12 months.
When it comes to ransomware recovery, the distribution of recovery times by region is relatively similar, with the UK showing a higher proportion of organizations recovering from attacks within hours. This trend is consistent with previous years’ findings on global enterprise cloud deployments and infrastructure challenges.
Overall, the report underscores the importance of hybrid multi-cloud models in navigating the complexities of modern IT environments. To learn more about the findings and recommendations from the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud Index survey, download the full report.
