AMD has surpassed Intel in brand awareness by utilizing its AI advancements, resulting in a 53% year-over-year brand growth by 2023. The chipmaker currently holds the 41st position in Kantar’s rankings, placing it ahead of well-known brands like Intel, Texas Instruments, and Samsung. In the Enterprise Technology and Services Platforms category, AMD has moved up nine spots in the ranking with a brand value of $51.86 million, reflecting the value of the company’s brand awareness alone.

Kantar’s BrandZ report for 2024 indicates that AMD’s growth can be attributed to its innovative technologies in artificial intelligence and spatial computing. Nvidia, another key player in these fields, experienced a 178% year-over-year growth as well. Many of the top 20 fastest-growing companies highlighted in the report benefited from advancements in these areas.

On the other hand, Intel has only grown by 29% since 2023, moving up four spots to #48. The company underwent a major rebranding in 2023, which received mixed feedback. Intel made significant changes to its logo, jingle, and retired brands like Pentium and Celeron, which were longstanding household names.

Interestingly, the top 20 fastest-rising companies in 2023 did not include any from the technology sector. Instead, telecommunications, food and beverage companies, and luxury brands were in the spotlight. However, AMD managed to make it to the top 10 list of fastest-rising companies, which was mostly dominated by tech or tech-related brands.

The most valuable brands according to Kantar’s rankings for 2024 include Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and McDonald’s in the top five positions. Nvidia closely follows in sixth place. The report reveals a shift in brand values and positioning across various industries, indicating the evolving landscape of consumer preferences and market dynamics.

Overall, AMD’s strategic focus on AI advancements and brand messaging has propelled the company to outshine its competitors and solidify its position in the market. The tech industry continues to witness rapid growth and innovation, driving the success of companies like AMD and Nvidia in the global market.
