Amazon Web Services Raises $14M in Healthcare Cloud Equity

Since launching the AWS Health Equity Initiative, Amazon Web Services has awarded $14 million in cloud credits to more than 90 organizations to help close the health equity gap.

According to a Sept. 21 Amazon Web Services blog post, the $14 million, along with technical know-how, will fund innovation worldwide that supports equity in healthcare.

Some of the innovations include a Tanzania mobile technology-based taxi service for women at work and genome sequencing technology to help fight COVID-19 and other diseases in Africa.

In addition, the AWS Health Equity Initiative will also focus on diagnostics.

The new diagnostics pillar will be the fourth focus of the initiative.

The other three priority areas are improving access to health services, addressing the social determinants of health and using data to promote equitable and inclusive care systems.
