Last week in the world of Amazon Web Services (AWS), there were several notable updates. AWS Control Tower now offers APIs to register organizational units, enabling automated OU provisioning and management with AWS CloudFormation support. API Gateway now supports TLS 1.3, enhancing security for API traffic. Amazon OpenSearch Service allows cluster volume updates without the need for blue/green deployments, minimizing disruptions during cluster updates. Amazon GuardDuty Runtime Monitoring now protects clusters in shared VPC configurations, providing automated monitoring for enhanced security.

In addition, AWS Marketplace now supports managing Private Marketplace catalogs for organizational units, streamlining software acquisition and governance. Moving on to other AWS news, the AWS Cloud Club Captains C3 Cohort is open for applications until February 23, 2024. The AWS Open Source Newsletter by collaborator Richard highlights new open-source projects and tools from the AWS community.

Looking ahead, upcoming AWS events include workshops on Generative AI on AWS and AI/ML Security, as well as the AWS JAM Session – Canada Edition that offers gamified learning challenges. There are also AWS Innovate Online events tailored to different regions and interests, as well as AWS Summits that provide opportunities for the cloud computing community to interact and learn about AWS products and services.

Additionally, AWS Community re:Invent re:Caps events hosted by volunteers from AWS user groups offer insights into the latest AWS re:Invent announcements. For a comprehensive list of upcoming in-person and virtual events, attendees can visit the AWS website.
