Amazon’s cloud computing business has moved to a flagship office in Auckland to expand its New Zealand business. However, it is not ready to build one of its state-of-the-art data centers here.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) officially opened a new two-story office in the PWC building in Commercial Bay in downtown Auckland on Tuesday.
Nick Walton, general manager of AWS NZ’s commercial division, said the company opened in New Zealand eight years ago and over the past year his team has grown from 50 to over 100 people.
The workforce will continue to grow to serve the “tens of thousands of customers” in New Zealand, and the new office should make that possible, he said.
