Amazon Web Services (AWS) has joined United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) as a member at the strategic level, the organization announced April 5th. AWS is USGIF’s 27th strategic member and joins other members The Boeing Company, Maxar Technologies, and L3Harris Technologies.

USGIF is a non-profit educational foundation committed to promoting geospatial data and the GEOINT community between government, industry and academia. The group said geo customers benefit from the AWS cloud platform, which frees them from having to buy, maintain and operate their own servers and data centers.

“It is really a big deal for us to join AWS as a strategic member of the foundation,” commented Ronda Schrenk, CEO of USGIF. “They bring a unique perspective and a wealth of knowledge to our community and organization. We look forward to a committed and symbiotic relationship. “
