Amazon Web Services continued its streak of hiring former government technology leaders, adding three more to its ranks earlier this year.

The three new government IT directors at AWS are:

  • Randy Iwasaki, who ran the California Department of Transportation and joined AWS in January as a state and local transportation manager
  • Maria Thompson, the former North Carolina chief risk officer who joined AWS in June as head of cybersecurity for state and local agencies
  • David McCurdy, Colorado’s former chief technology officer who joined AWS in June as a government advisor

You will join three former state CIOs at AWS: Craig Orgeron of Mississippi, Chuck Grindle of Kentucky, and Morgan Reed of Arizona. Hardik Bhatt, former Illinois CIO, worked at AWS until June when he left to run another tech company.

AWS did not respond to a request for comment on this story.
