NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (WTNH) – Considered one of the first in the country – the Amazon Web Services Academy – a community college partnership with Amazon Web Services.

Officials announced the joint effort in New Haven on Monday.

With the stroke of a pen, Connecticut employees now have access to cloud careers at Amazon.

Aaron Osmond of Amazon Web Services said the partnership is about nurturing the new generation of employees.

“Working with a CSCU and local employers, we will enable the children to get the jobs and practical roles as part of their overall experience,” said Osmond.

Executives say there is a gap in the supply and demand for tech jobs. Corporations now go after workers because of their skills.

“We’re moving things to the cloud, we’re moving more IT, we need to make sure our workforce is prepared,” said Governor Ned Lamont.
