Amazon recently shared plans to invest an additional €10 billion in its cloud infrastructure and logistics network in Germany, further expanding its presence in Europe. CEO Andy Jassy, following a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, disclosed the details of the investment, which also involves the expansion of its development center in Berlin.

Part of the investment includes €8.8 billion to develop and maintain its cloud infrastructure for its AWS business in the Frankfurt region by 2026, aiming to meet the increasing customer demand for its related technologies. This new capital injection adds to the 77 billion euros that Amazon has already invested in Germany since 2010. It complements the previously announced €7.8 billion investment in AWS European Sovereign Cloud, with plans to be based in Germany.

With this latest commitment, Amazon’s total investment in Germany across various projects now amounts to €17.8 billion. Looking beyond Germany, AWS announced earlier its intentions to invest 15.7 billion euros in Spain by 2033 and 1.2 billion euros in France, as part of its broader expansion strategy in Europe.

The company’s long-standing presence in Germany has allowed it to build strong relationships with customers, employees, and communities, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. By continuing to invest in key infrastructure and development centers, Amazon aims to further support invention and enhance services for its growing customer base in the region. As digital infrastructure becomes increasingly important, these investments are expected to drive economic growth and technological advancement for both Amazon and the countries in which it operates.
