Amazon teams up with a fast food robot

The maker of a fast-food robot that prepares burgers, fries, wings and fries for large chains partners with Amazon Web Services. The move will allow Miso Robotics to dramatically increase its simulation capacity, a key ingredient in the fast food robot wars.

This is a story about the intersection of automation and customization, previously thought to be irreconcilable. Miso Robotics makes fast food frying robots called Flippy 2 and Flippy Lite. However, to survive in the highly competitive quick service space, where big brands have distinctive styles and offerings, the company needs to ensure its robots can adapt to very specific cooking and preparation performances. Miso has already partnered with big chains like White Castle and Chipotle, but the prototyping process is very time-consuming.
