Amazon AMZN, the commerce and cloud-computing company, raised Nvidia-based EC2 Capacity Block rental prices by roughly 15%, effective October 7, while shares traded at $254.64, down 0.65% at 10.25 am EST on October 7. MarketWatch reported the increase as AI customers face a bigger bill for reserved computing capacity. Amazon is charging more for access to the hardware powering the AI buildout.
Customers reserve accelerators for set periods and pay the reservation fee upfront. AWS states that those rates adjust with supply and demand, with the new hourly price reaching $16.146 per B300 accelerator in standard regions. Other Capacity Block prices remain unchanged, alongside On-Demand and Savings Plans pricing. That gives customers a reason to compare purchasing options before committing their next AI budget.
