PHOENIX – Issues with tech services on the east coast created a number of headaches for businesses across the country on Tuesday.
Amazon Web Services, which host websites and applications such as Netflix, Disney +, Prime Music, Ticketmaster, Google, Venmo, Cash App, and others, were hit by the outages.
Amazon Web Services create a “cloud” that many companies use as their online home. When the servers went down, so did the websites that relied on the cloud.
Amazon stated that the problems were internal and not caused by a malicious outside attack.
“The virtual version of someone tripped over a string,” said Ken Colburn of Data Doctors.
Colburn said this isn’t the first outage for a massive cloud service like AWS. However, the failures are almost always caused by someone inside or a failed update to the system.
