What’s new: Cloud computing giant Amazon Web Services (AWS) has struck a deal to make some of its datasets and data technology available to companies at an industrial park in Hong Kong home to more than 1,000 tech companies.
The partnership will allow US tech giant and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corp. to create a suite of programs that give qualified local researchers access to pandemic and cancer-related datasets on AWS platforms, it said a joint statement published Monday. The deal will also allow eligible local artificial intelligence (AI) and robot developers to use an AWS tool designed to simulate technology applications in 3D virtual environments prior to commercialization.
As part of the agreement, AWS will also provide training for select local companies involved in software-as-a-service, biotechnology, and AI, according to the statement.
