Amazon, Perplexity spar over AI agent access in hacking claims

Attorneys for an AI startup that helps consumers use an app to shop on Amazon.com Inc. are fighting back against the tech company’s accusations that it violated the federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and a California law by deliberately disguising its AI agent as a human user.

Amazon’s attorney, Hueston Hennigan LLP partner Moez M. Kaba, filed a complaint and a motion for a preliminary injunction against the San Francisco startup in November.
