Last year was a stellar year for cloud infrastructure as the industry generated over $ 60 billion in revenue worldwide. At least this is what the latest Gartner report suggests. IaaS revenue increased a whopping 41% compared to 2019, thanks to accelerated cloud adoption.
One of the big beneficiaries of the cloud trends has been Amazon (AMZN) – Get the report. The company generated over 40% of total industry sales through its Amazon Web Services division, thereby consolidating its status as the undisputed king of the world’s cloud infrastructure.

A look at the numbers
The following table summarizes Gartner’s results on cloud IaaS. Amazon’s sales of $ 26.2 billion were more than double that of Microsoft, the second largest provider in the industry. All other competitors combined, apart from Microsoft, had less IaaS sales than Amazon.
